Free Beer Tasting - Duvel
March 3, 2010
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
The Duvel Moortgat Brewery began over a century ago in 1871 in Puurs Belgium with its best known product, Duvel. It has survived wars, economic downturns, and Belgian Disco. In 1963 the Moortgat family began brewing its Maredsous line of Abbey Beers under the license of the monks of Maredsous Abbey. There are three lines of beer 6 Blonde, 8 Dubbel, and 10 Tripel. We will offer the 8 and 10 for tasting and the 6 is currently on draft.
On the tasting table Wednesday 3/3 6 – 8 pm:
Duvel, Strong Golden Ale:
Duvel is unique. No other beer is made like it or tastes like it. Blond and refreshing like a Pilsner, but the flavor, depth, and complexity of an ale. It defines the strong ale category. 8.5% abv.
Maredsous 8 Dubbel:
A rich mahogany-brown Dubbel ale, with a delicate body, creamy head, and lush bouquet. Within its velvety taste you’ll discover subtle hints of dark fruit, chocolate, and toffee. You’ll also savor a dry and warming finish. 8% abv.
Maredsous 10 Tripel:
A golden-bodied Belgian Triple, redolent with festive sparkle, creamy body, and a luscious head. Its elegant smoothness belies the strong alcohol content. You’ll revel in its balanced, long, and warming finish. 10% abv.
