JOEL GOTT SAUVIGNON BLANC
The careful selection of grapes from vineyards in Monterey, Napa and Lake Counties comes to fruition in our 2008 California Sauvignon Blanc, a complex, structured blend which balances fruit and acidity. The cool, coastal vineyards of Monterey allow the grapes to mature slowly and develop intense citrus flavors with crisp minerality. Combined with richer, more complex grapes from the sun-drenched Napa Valley, the blend evolves into a more structured, balanced wine. Grapes from Lake County enhance the wine’s acidity and heighten its tropical flavors. Together, these locales produce a wine with aromas of guava, watermelon, Meyer lemon and a long, juicy finish.
Aging this well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc in stainless steel preserves the intense fruit aromas and flavors without the cloaking presence of malolactic fermentation. The screw cap enclosure and the UV safe green glass package ensure that our wine maintains freshness throughout its life. Put simply, this is one of our favorite wines to drink regardless of season or spread; it is bright and crisp year round.
HEY MAMBO “SWANKY” WHITE
winemaker’s notes:
A refreshing blend of eyebrow-raising charm, this Hey Mambo Swanky White is markably an uncommon treasure. This 2007 vintage is a harmonious blend of Viognier, Chenin Blanc, Muscat Canelli, and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Fresh and alluring, this wine is an ideal candidate for holiday occasions. Serve with herb and Dijon mustard roasted turkey or baked ham glazed with tropical fruit. When the heat sets in, try this wine as a base for a puréed, chilled watermelon-mint soup or a dessert of ripe blackberries and raspberries folded with freshly whipped cream made with Mexican or Tahitian vanilla.
The hue of fine yellow crystal, this wine unfolds with aromas reminiscent of summertime by the pool or in the garden with fragrant floral blossoms, rose petals, ripe apricots and a hint of cloves over a backdrop of lemon-lime from the Muscat. The palate is very juicy, honeyed with gooseberries from the presence of Viognier and grassy tones from the Sauvignon Blanc. This wine’s heart and soul is captivatingly fruity, with crisp acidity driven by the Chenin Blanc. It concludes with a clean, dry finish of Pink Lady apples, orchard peach and limestone.
critical acclaim:
“The word for this white is fun. It’s filled with apricot, pineapple, peach, green apple, honeysuckle and spice flavors, and is not complicated, but has a fine, crisp structure. The creative blend is Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Muscat and Chenin Blanc.”

This sultry red has both depth and texture with an intense palate of dense berries, like boysenberry and cassis, courtesy of the Petite Sirah. The Zinfandel, Malbec and Alicante Bouchet, deliver flavors of mulling spices and cracked black pepper with firm tannins and a supple, silky finish.

THE SUM
Rated 90 points by The Wine Advocate: The real star, and a great bargain, is the 2007 The Sum – The Seventy-Five Wine Company. This is an absolute steal when it comes to high-class wine. A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, and 10% Petite Sirah, there are 5,200 cases of this wine, which is truly outstanding and an amazing value. Sweet blue and black fruits, camphor, and spice box all jump from the glass of this dense, medium to full-bodied, juicy, supple wine, which is a hedonist’s dream come true. This is a beauty to drink over the next 4-5 years. California and Napa Valley need wines like this. Don’t dare pass it by!
