Please join us from 6pm – 8pm this Friday September 3rd, for a free wine tasting with Suzanne Whetsal of Republic National. The tasting will include White and Red Cotes du Rhones from French producer M. Chapoutier as well as a Torrontes from Argentina and two wonderful California Reds!
On the Tasting Table:
Santa Florentina Torrontes, Famatina Valley , Argentina
Originally from northwest Spain and grown in vineyards at over 3000 ft, this torrontes has a nose of honeysuckle and citrus. On the palate, the wine is lively with beautiful pear and passion fruit flavors balanced with vibrant acidity.
M. Chapoutier Belleruche Cotes-du-Rhone Blanc
Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc
The nose has notes of white flowers and hawthorne. On the palate, the wine is unctuous with white peach flavors and a fresh finish.
M. Chapoutier Belleruche Cotes-du-Rhone
Grenache, Syrah
Michel Chapoutier says that one of the most difficult tasks of a vineyardist and winemaker is to make a serious, high-quality wine, yet have it remain a good value. His “Belleruche” wines accomplish just that. M. Chapoutier Belleruche Rouge is a great introduction to one of the world’s most celebrated wine appellations: the Côtes-du-Rhône region. Red fruit aromas, mainly Morello cherries on the nose. The wine is well-structured, with dark red fruit and pepper notes and sustained tannins.
Murphy Goode Merlot, Sonoma, California
“Here is a Merlot with power and elegance, an intense, fruit-forward wine with the structure and balance to age. Mouthwatering aromas of black cherry, fresh thyme and sweet oak announce the wine’s dense fruit flavors. This Merlot finishes with smooth tannins and appealing oak spice, leaving a memorable impression.” – Winemaker David Ready Jr.
Montevina Terra d ‘Oro Syrah, Amador County, California
This elegant wine’s eggplant-colored ensemble tastefully adorns her opulent body. Whiffs of sandlewood and violet perfume waft enticingly out of the glass, exciting your sensibilities. Luscious red fruit flavors ooze across a verdant valley of spice. Campfire smoke, freshly roasted nuts, and fine tannin lace together a lingering, satisfying finish. Enjoy with a duck trio of roast breast, confit and paté, wild mushrooms, or a loaf of crusty bread with a pungent cheese.
The tasting is free and will last from 6pm to 8pm. Any bottles purchased from the tasting will be an additional $1 off the retail price.
